Other Gigs

Miscellaneous other musical soirées that are, as yet, unsorted.

Richard Holgarth seen here in yet another guise - the 4th in as many days. Here in ‘The Gits’ with Steve Frost near London’s King’s Cross. The previous evening saw him in Sheffield as part of John Otway’s Big Band. The evening before that, he was again partnering John Otway in Aylesbury on the Mad, Bad, & Dangerous tour with The Hamsters and The Wilko Johnson Band. And the evening before that Richard was with Eddie and The Hot Rods in Cleon, France. November 2007.

Gits

Wild At Heart (one of Barry Upton’s alter-egos) in Pagham, Sussex, near Bognor Regis and Chichester.

Odds and Ends: Small sets of pictures that don’t readily fit anywhere else - YET! Starting off with a few pictures from Danny’s Bar, Bedford. Next comes an unknown traditional jazz band, playing at the Boxmoor Conker Festival.

Still in January 2010, the night after TV Smith in Harlow, I was in St Albans to see The X-Certs. Their drummer, Steve, is also in Guitar Gangsters, whom I last saw in Dresden, also on the E&THR 2009 German tour. The rest of the Guitar Gangsters were also in the audience here.

March 2010: King King, featuring Alan Nimmo, of The Nimmo Brothers, appear at The Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead.

It’s a shame that this album doesn’t fit anywhere except in ‘Other Gigs’ (for now). Rammstein at The Wembley Arena far surpassed any rock show I had seen or heard in over 40 years. Stunning! Simply stunning. Support by Combichrist.

Rammstein

Spring Bank Holiday 2010 - Sunday evening (after spending the afternoon at Blackwells): Various bands at The Hope & Anchor in Islington - not far from where I went to school. The line-up was: Victoria Box, Dirty Fingernails, Ferocity Lights, Audio Cartel, and Cavilry, all of whom were of exceptional quality.

Hope Anchor

At the end of June 2010, I paid a visit to The Gaff, in Holloway Road, London. Bands on view were: Jack Brews, Loudmouth Eddi, The Dilenquents (note the spelling), and Dead Sails. Lots of fun on a Summer’s evening.

Gaff

I first saw Tailgator at The Greenacres Tavern. Here they are at The Black Boy in Bricket Wood, where I was in the company of some of The Odds’ regulars. Unfortunately, the indoor p.a. wasn’t really suitable for this outdoor location, and the sound was poor. Later in the day, we ‘retired’ back to The Odds, ostensibly to see Leech, but we stayed in the garden most of the evening.
